Question by chekhov1987: How can I market furniture to a hotel?
I need to help improve the sales of a furniture store by going out into the community and marketing to different businesses. What is the best way to market furniture to a hotel and who is the person i need to contact at the hotel that normally handles these affairs? Do they normally have their own interior designers or a design company that they use?
Other than interior designers and hotels what are good businesses to market furniture to?
Thank You!

Best answer:

Answer by Glen D
Contact their office and ask to speak with the purchasing officer or person in charge of purchasing. Good luck.

Question by Shannon: How can I treat antique furniture for bugs?
We bought an antique bookcase and later discovered it has bugs in it. They are eating the wood and leaving little piles of sawdust. They are very small and brown with little wings – they sort of resemble weevils. (I do not think they are termites.)

How do we kill them? Do we have to get rid of the bookcase? And, are we in danger of them spreading to other pieces of furniture or our hardwood floors?

Please help! Thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by David K
cover it with a tarp and use a fogger. lots of options there. I’d use a “no mess” type. still I’d wipe it down with Murphy’s Oil Soap after.

The lectus, or couch, or bed, was perhaps the most important item of Roman style furniture. Used for sleeping, sitting, relaxing or eating, the lectus was a wooden frame supporting criss crossed leather straps that held a matress stuffed, originally with straw, and later with wool or feathers.

At one end there was an arm, as in modern sofas; sometimes there was an arm at each end, and a back as well. The back was likely a Roman addition to the ordinary form of the ancient couch.

It had a headboard, and was furnished with pillows, cushions and a coverlet. The legs were often highly decorated and inlaid or plated with tortoise-shell, ivory, or the precious metals. Mention is made even of frames of solid silver. The coverings were often made of the finest fabrics, dyed in the most brilliant colors, and worked with figures of gold. Primarily used for relaxing and socializing in the living areas, the lectus also formed the basis of Roman style bedroom furniture.

In some of the bedrooms of Pompeii the frame seems to be missing ; when like this the mattress was laid on a support built up from the floor. The couches used as sleeping beds seem to have been larger than those used as sofas, and they were so high that stools or even steps were necessary to reach them.

As a sofa the Roman lectus was used in Roman libraries for reading and writing; the student supported himself on his left arm and held the book or writing with the right hand. In Roman dining rooms the lectus had a permanent place. – www.furniturestyles.net/ancient/roman/lectus.html

Nature form furniture – Unique furniture and design elements:
Harijs Stradiņš – a craftsman working with natural shape wood processing, has been designing furniture and other interior design elements since 1997 selecting the best parts of the tree from top to root. In his works Harijs uses such materials as stone, glass, hammered works, fabric, clay and other natural materials to be able to make common design for a particular room.

Kopš 1997. gada dabiska koka formu apstrādes meistars Harijs Stradiņš sadarbojas ar koku, kā dabas elementu, mēbeļu un dizaina elementu radīšanā, izmantojot to pēc iespējas pilnīgi (no saknes līdz gaotnei). Domājot par telpas kopējā dizaina risinājumu, savos darbos Harijs Stradiņš izmanto arī akmeni, stiklu, metālkalumus, audumu, mālu un citus dabas elementus.
